Crochet Dreadlock Maintenance: What to Expect
What actually happens during a crochet maintenance appointment, how long it takes and how to prepare.
What a maintenance appointment actually is
Crochet maintenance tightens existing dreadlocks by pulling new growth and loose hair back into each loc with a small crochet hook. Nothing is added — no wax, no gel, no chemicals. The hook does all the work.
A standard 3-month maintenance session at Hooked & LOK'D covers root cleanup, loose-hair incorporation, crochet tightening, loc cleanup and minor repair where appropriate.
How long it takes
Appointment length depends on your loc count, length, density and how much new growth you have. Your estimated time is confirmed when you book — the more accurate your photo estimate, the fewer surprises.
How to prepare
Arrive with clean, fully dry, product-free hair unless you've been told otherwise. Avoid heavy oils or conditioners in the days before your appointment — they make the hair harder to work with.
Ready to book? 3-month maintenance starts at $175 with a $50 deposit.
