How Often Should Crochet Locs Be Maintained?
The three-month rule of thumb, when to book major maintenance instead, and how to tell what your locs need.
The three-month rule of thumb
Most clients do best with maintenance about every three months. That cadence matches a typical cycle of new growth and keeps roots tight without overworking the hair.
When three months becomes six
Life happens. If your locs have gone significantly longer between appointments, a standard maintenance session may not be enough. That's what annual/major maintenance (starting at $275) is for — heavier new growth, more loose hair, matting and repairs.
How to tell what your locs need
If your roots have a few inches of loose new growth but your locs are otherwise intact, book 3-month maintenance. If you have matting between locs, significant loose hair, or damage, send photos first — we'll tell you honestly which service fits.
